SURPRISE, Ariz. — Detroit Tigers prospect Grayson Greiner takes batting practice for the Salt River Rafters ahead of a game during Arizona Fall League play in October, 2016. Pictured here is a swing with Greiner making contact with a pitch in the batting cage:
Across 91 games in 2016, Greiner slashed .293/.339/.424/.763 with 15 doubles and seven home runs while splitting time between the High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers and the Double-A Erie SeaWolves, while also getting one game with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens to boot.
Greiner has some serious power, showing it off during AFL batting practice sessions by routinely putting balls out onto the top of the concourse at his home Salt River ballpark with swings just like this one. In 2017, Greiner has an outside shot at being able to showcase that power profile at the big league level for the Tigers by the end of the summer.
