Scottsdale, Arizona —— We caught up with Milwaukee Brewers third base prospect Lucas Erceg while we were out at the Arizona Fall League this month, and Baseball Census on-air host Sande Charles chatted him up about hitting lefties, adjustments he made this season in High-A as a 22-year-old, and what he’s trying to do this fall while playing for the Salt River Rafters. The two also go a little bit deeper on the nutrition and off-season training lessons Erceg has learned in his time with the Brewers, and what he intends to accomplish this winter that’ll be different from seasons past.
You can watch that Lucas Erceg video interview with Sande Charles right here:
A former second round pick (2016) out of tiny Menlo College in northern California, Lucas Erceg spent the 2017 season at High-A Carolina before being called up to Triple-A Colorado Springs for a playoff push at the very end of the year. Taken all together, the Milwaukee Brewers prospect slashed .259/.310/.421/.731 over 506 at-bats, with 35 doubles, 15 home runs, 36 walks, and 96 strikeouts. Still just 22 years old and now out at the AFL, it’s likely Erceg will start the 2018 season in Double-A. Exceptional raw power with easy access to the barrel and some proven ability to make adjustments may move him relatively quickly in the next calendar year, too.
Later on in November, we’ll have a full video up of a few dozen game at-bats from the third baseman’s time at the AFL so you can get a sense of his swing mechanics, swing plane, and more. And over the winter, we’ll put up a full Lucas Erceg scouting report on the Milwaukee Brewers prospect, as well. We hope you enjoyed our video interview with him; as a friendly reminder, please click here and subscribe to the Baseball Census YouTube channel for a few dozen more video interviews and thousands more prospect game videos from the AFL and all around affiliated minor league baseball.
