Prospect: Pablo O’Connor
Position: IF/OF
Organization: Washington Nationals
Height/Weight: 6’0”, 195 lbs.
Bats/Throws: R/R
Age/DOB: 22 (September 6, 1995)
Acquired/Hometown: Round 27 (2018), WAS

May 2018 — Azusa Pacific University (NCAA Division II, PacWest Conference)
Selected in the 27th round (821) of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals … Draft listed as a second baseman; in my looks, he’s played outfield as well. Versatile defensively with OK foot speed, good lateral and first-step quickness, and the ability to play both infield and outfield that should continue on into pro ball. Timed 4.33 up the line to first base from the RHH box; quicker on his first step defensively, particularly in the infield … Shows decent bat speed offensively with some decent pull power; really coils up with bat wrap through his load into swing; can take a while to uncoil and unleash on a pitch; needs to be down and ready quick and early, particularly against pro velocity. Patient hitter, almost to a fault; will work very deep counts, take pitches, work strike zone. Knows his approach and what he’s looking for, and won’t deviate much from it depending on situation. Pablo O’Connor proved to be an exceedingly tough out at some points of his college career, and hopes to do the same for the Washington Nationals in pro ball; everyday infielder ceiling, but far more likely utility man profile ahead.
