Scouting Report (May 9, 2020)

Small kid, diminutive frame, though fairly athletic and pretty explosive downhill to the plate in spite of size. Repeats mechanics fine, some deception with back turn; hides the ball well, particularly from RHH; great arm speed, sells off-speed stuff well with it. FB jumps on hitters, sneaky good velo and really lets loose. Decent command, strong control; pounds the zone, gets after hitters. Feel for all three pitches, rotation feel overall, we’ll see where he lands. Fell back some in spring 2020 but hit high notes in previous six months, turned corner as pitcher more than thrower across 2019-20. High-energy guy, presence may play up some in future bullpen role if not a starter.

Future Projection

D1 potential, small-school D1 likely with rotation chops and good enough command to work extended outings, multiple innings. Physical size may be an issue for some; athletic and repeatable but I do question durability with lack of build; near final physical form and may not throw much harder than where he is right now. Still, there’s real pitchability here, with decent feel. Some maturity questions arose during sophomore year, may have some growing up to do; aside from that, on-field skills play nicely, I like the arm and he’s a good follow with a real shot to make an impact at the next level.
